Adding Guides

Guides form the foundation of interactive demos and product tours.

Here's a list of guides that Storylane supports. To add guides, navigate to "GUIDE" in the Storylane editor, click on "Add Step", select a screen, and pick from one of five guides based on your needs:

  1. Lead form

Use lead forms to capture leads at strategic points in your demo. You can either use Storylane's own form or embed custom forms (Hubspot, Marketo, or Pardot) or capture leads through demo URL params.

In HTML demos you need to drag guides onto an element, which snaps into place when highlighted green.

Guides can be customized to match your needs. Hover on the guide and click on the "Edit guide" icon next to it for the following options:

Pro tip: Need to copy a step to another chapter? Just select the step you would like to copy from the sidebar and use Cmd/Ctrl C + Cmd/Ctrl V to copy and paste into another demo's timeline. You could also do the same by right clicking or select three dots against a step. To duplicate a step, select the step and use Cmd/Ctrl D.

Pro tip: Looking to "hide" your hotspot or tooltip? Leave the in-guide content empty and turn down the opacity of the widget to 0% under guide settings.

  • Find the step: Navigate to the demo step where you want to add your video overlay.

  • Select the video icon: In the left-side panel, select the video camera icon

  • Select an AI avatar or record yourself: Pick from dozens of AI avatars or record yourself

  • Save: Click the 'Save' button to save the video to your demo step.

How to add voiceovers

  1. Find the step: Choose the step in your demo where you want to add a voiceover.

  2. Select the microphone Icon: from the left-side panel, select the microphone icon to open the voiceover options.

  3. Choose Your Method:

    • AI-Generated Voiceover: Leverage AI to create a synthetic voiceover in over 25 languages with 65+ voice options. Simply type your text, select the language and voice, and the AI will generate the voiceover for you.

    • Record Your Voice: Press record to capture your voice directly, providing a natural and personalized explanation.

    • Upload a Pre-recorded Voiceover: If you have an existing voice recording, you can upload it from your device and integrate it into the demo step.

  4. Save: Once finished, save the voiceover, and it will automatically play during that demo step.
