# Slack

{% hint style="warning" %}

### **Set up alerts to start receiving Slack notifications**

⚠️ **Important:** Connecting Slack alone does not send notifications.\
Create an [**Alert**](https://docs.storylane.io/account/alerts) to get notified when users engage with your demos or hubs.
{% endhint %}

### How Leads Are Identified

Storylane recognizes two types of leads:

| Lead Type        | How It's Identified                    |
| ---------------- | -------------------------------------- |
| **Known Lead** | When an **email address** is captured |
| **Unknown Lead** | Based on **IP address/company** lookup |

{% hint style="info" %}

### **Identifying Leads**

There are few ways in which you can capture or identify leads. You can refer the article on [Lead Tracking](https://docs.storylane.io/analytics-and-performance/capture-leads) to learn more
{% endhint %}

### ⚙️ How it works

Slack is used as a **delivery channel for alerts**.

The flow:

1. **Connect Slack** to your Storylane workspace
   1. Navigate to Integrations tab in the left-side panel
   2. Locate the Slack integration and click Connect.
2. Once connected, click on ' **Set up Alerts'** to create your first alert
3. Create an alert and select **Slack** as the **destination**
4. Choose the **channel** where notifications should be sent, and tag a user (optional)
5. **Save** the alert
6. **Start receiving alerts** - once your alert criteria is met, you’ll receive an alert in your configured Slack channel.
