Adding Video Clips

Adding video clips to your demos is a very easy process, and there are a couple of ways you can go about it:

Note: Video clips can only be added to an existing screenshot demo.

Uploading the Pre-recorded Video

Once you're in the demo editor:

Step 1: Click on "Add Step" and select a desired screen to open up the Guides panel. Then, choose "Add Video Clips". The following pop-up will appear.

Step 2: Next, click on the "Upload Videos Manually" button. A drag-and-drop dialog box will open up where you can add pre-recorded videos.

To ensure an optimal experience, keep the video and image dimensions the same.

Using the Storylane Extension to Record Videos

Step 1: Go to the URL/ screen you wish to record and click on the Storylane Chrome extension.

Step 2: Click on "Add to existing demo" to open up the list of all your saved demos. Select the one to which you wish to add the video clip.

Step 3: Now, in the same window, three new options will appear at the bottom. Click on "Add Video". This will immediately start recording all the movements and animations that happen on the said URL.

Step 4: Once you're done recording, click on the extension again and hit the "Stop Recording" button.

Storylane's video feature smartly captures only key mouse and keyboard actions, like scrolling and typing, for clutter-free, efficient demos.

Can I Trim Videos?

Absolutely! Inside the demo editor, you also get an option to trim the video clips, once you're on the Video step. The best thing about it is while you can trim your videos the way you want, the original video stays in the video library, to be used multiple times.

Also, you can:

  • Change the playback speed

  • Turn Audio on/off
