Identify Leads from Your Interactive Demo and Track Analytics
Demos can be a powerful tool to increase your lead pipeline. With Storylane demos, you can capture new leads and send them to your CRM or marketing platform along with their session analytics on engagement.
There are 3 ways in which you can identify leads who watched your interactive demo:
By Adding a Lead Form Inside the Demo
You can add a lead form as a step in any demo chapter, whether at the beginning, middle, or end of your guided demo. Lead forms allow you to gather essential user information such as name and email address while they’re engaged with your demo content.
Storylane Native Lead Form
This form offers configurable fields such as email and an optional name field. The form can be added as a step in any chapter to collect user information.
Note: We split the name into " <first> <last> " before updating your integrated CRM.
Custom Embed Form
You can build your own custom form, then copy and paste its embed code through the inbuilt lead form guide. Commonly, we see forms built from tools such as:
Hubspot
Marketo
Pardot (requires custom setup)
Custom forms are ideal if you need to add additional fields or further customize the form.

By Adding a Lead Form Outside the Demo
Lead forms can also be configured before the demo starts, usually on your website as a gated tour. Common methods include:
Custom forms on the landing page: Users fill out the form and are redirected to the demo.
Form as an overlay on top of the demo: Once the form is filled out, the demo is automatically loaded.
By Forwarding Emails Through the URL Param
Leads can also be identified by passing email as a URL parameter, either in the demo share URL or the domain where the demo is embedded. Here’s how this works:
Demo Share URL: You add the
email
parameter directly in the demo URL.
Example:
https://app.storylane.io/share/vyxhoclq5jpr?email=john@acme.com
Landing Page with Embedded Demo: The email param is passed to the landing page URL, and Storylane will pick it up to track the user.
Example:
https://acme.com/product-tour?email=john@acme.com

Tracking UTMs Inside the Demo
You can pass UTM parameters in the URL where you embed the demo or within CTAs to track leads. Storylane can send the UTMs to your CRM (like HubSpot, Marketo, Pardot) if the integration is set up, enabling more efficient lead tracking and conversion.

Cookie Tracking
Storylane supports cookie tracking to capture leads and associate them with demo analytics. There are two key use cases for cookie tracking:
External Lead Form Before Demo
The form is filled out first, then the lead is passed to the demo.Returning Visitors
Cookie tracking identifies returning users who have already filled out a form on your website and allows for seamless demo engagement.

Tracking UTMs Outside the Demo and Cookie Tracking
When embedding your demo on your website and someone clicks the CTA, Storylane allows you to use UTM parameters to track and capture leads. UTMs will be sent to your CRM only if you have the Storylane integration with HubSpot, Marketo, Pardot, and proper UTM mapping.
